Tale of Two BUILDERS: Case Comparison (Navy vs. Marine Corps)

Presenter: Stantec – Robin St. Charles | Doug Barnhard

Panel: Jon Crittenden (NAVFC), James Taylor (Marine Corps)

Synopsis: A common vision among facilities professionals using BUILDER is integrating the BUILDER process into their maintenance work management processes. In this case study, we will look at two organizations, the Navy and the Marine Corps, and their approaches to process and systems integration. Both have long histories with BUILDER. The Navy has worked to integrate BUILDER into their maintenance processes from the outset of their implementation. The Marine Corps worked to establish a functioning BUILDER process and is now in the planning stages of integrating it into their maintenance processes. We will compare these two approaches from an outside participant’s perspective.

Facility Sustainment Investment Strategies (Panel)

Moderator: Joe Allison – Alpha

Synopsis: This session will explore facility sustainment investment models from multiple agencies and the usage of BUILDER data to support those models.

BUILDER Vision – Using Army Vantage to unleash the power of BUILDER

Presenters: Jacobs: Frank Mondo, Jared Huffman, Zachary Carper

Synopsis: Federal Agencies face increased mission demands on constrained resources. A plethora of data is readily available at the facility level for the Department of Defense users but falls short of providing an integrated prioritization for decision makers based on operational risk. Using Army Vantage to unlock BUILDER’s power provides a better real time sight picture for data-driven decisions. The presentation will provide participants a current look at how the Army is using emerging technologies available within the Army enterprise (e.g. Army Vantage) to provide decision-makers and installation level BUILDER end-users the tools needed to improve the existing Army BUILDER process that will benefit other agencies and services.

Bad BCI, Good FCI. Normal or Abnormal?

Presenter: Steve Desrosiers (Alpha)

Synopsis: This presentation will take a deep dive into the BCI and FCI and their relationship.  While the dive will be in depth, the explanations will be based on a concept that all attendees are familiar with, school grades. The presentation will first describe how school grades can be an accurate metaphor for both the BCI and FCI calculations. Then the calculations will be compared to understand their relationship.  Finally, data from real buildings will be used to validate the findings.
